Default H3 Replacement Tow Hooks

My H3 Tow hooks are starting to rust a little, mainly on the bolts, and a little on the hooks too.I was going to paint them, and thought what about replacement stainless ones.I have seen a few members pics with them on,and they look good.Just curious to hear what everyone has to say about them.Thanks....

i bought the stainless from the dealer and after a year they have some rust spots on them. i am not to pissed cause i got them real cheap at $75 for the set but if i paid normal price i would of been back and bitching at them. i am in IL so don't get to many bad winters but the salt still got them. when i buy a new pair going to look into putting some type of clear protection on them. as far as the black set my loops are perfect and are from a 06 H3 but the bolts have rust. my old black set look like there is a clear protecter on it and would explain the excellent shape but the bolts look like nothing is protecting it and that would explain the rust. so i just say be careful with the stainless.

My black ones got beat up pretty good from the winter. I am not sure about stainless steel, depends on where you live I suppose. I will probably just paint mine this summer.

Stainless is nice but it will still rust eventaully w/ out proper care. it's called STAIN LESS for a reason, it takes longer for it to stain compared to other metals not that it wont stain, if the that was the case it would be called stainfree

Curious why we just don't take the hooks off completely when not in use and store them in the back.
Oh, I know why, they look way cool!

Stainless steel doesn't always mean no rust. Perhaps a hard chrome finish will stand up to the elements better than painted or stainless.
If mine start looking bad, I will try the Krylon paint and see if that will refresh the look for a while.

I have the stainless and during two winters they have so ever so light signs of rust. I probably shoulda waxed them a couple of times during the winter.

Thanks for the info..I think i will paint them for now.The worst spots are on the bolt heads, and on the nuts. The loops I got most of the surface rust off with a good wax.I do like the look of crome or stainless,in canada they want 212.00 can for a set of 3 stainless tow hooks, the ones from Gear Jammen Accessories.
