The reason people are so hard on the Japanese auto makers is they have put a major hurt on American auto makers. In fact the Big 3 are no longer American but Japanese, Honda, Toyota & Nissan and people just won’t admit that the “Japs†make better automobiles then America does. Just my opinion.

Back in the 80's all the Big 3 made cars not to last, they only made them to last until the warrenty was up and then completly fall apart. This was verified a few years ago on the show "60 Minutes", they interviewed a number of X high ranking past employees from the Big 3 that confessed to what they had done and admited to making cars that would not last, so us, the consumers, would have to spend money on parts, repairs and replacing our broken cars and trucks.
While the Big 3 were pulling this fast one on the American public the Japenese were making great cars and not trying to screw us like the Big 3 were.
I am amazed to see anyone slam the Japenese auto makers in lite of what the greedy Big 3 did to us,,,,, and to top it off the Big 3 would sponser rallys and crap were people would distroy Japense cars while chanting "Buy American" ,, all this while the American auto makers knew how bad they were screwing there fellow Americans.
So before any of you trash talk the Japenese auto makers do just a tiny bit of research and see how bad our American auto makers screwed us.
The ONLY reason the Big 3 make good cars now is because of the Japanese.
Cheers

Well hasn't this turned interesting? I have been buying cars longer than many of you have been alive. Mostly American with a few German and Italian cars thrown in. One "Jap" car. In all those years I only had one bad car ( a 1979 Corvette that I bought new in1979 ) Except for that I haven't had a bad American, German, Italian or Japanese car. I suspect that a lot of "bad" American cars were due to the "bad" maintenance provided by their Owners. Anyone who believes that American auto makers purposely built cars to fall apart after the warranty expired is likely to believe every conspiracy theory presented to them. When I first became aware of Japanese cars they were boxy, cheap and only appealed to the very price conscious consumer. The Japanese spent decades trying to get their cars as good as American cars. After awhile they not only met the standards of the American auto makers but the car buying public as well. I think some Japanese brands surpassed the US automakers. Now the US auto makers are playing catch up and in many cases are very close to the quality of the Japanese now. In any industry you see this ebb and flow ( Intel vs AMD, Dell vs HP, Boeing vs EADS ) That's the nature of business. One sets the standard until someone comes along and raises it. I buy American not because I am denigrating any other auto maker's products but because I can buy what I want from the American companies and I think it is important to buy American if they have an equal or better product. That is my personal .02 and I think a number of you guys are over reacting in a big way. I haven't seen one of the racial names mentioned in the post above ever on this forum until that post.
As far as Hummer owners acting like a bunch off a$$holes if you need to clean up your act do so but the Hummer owners I know are good solid people that put up with crap from ignorant people and aren't the ones dishing it out.
