Default h3 navigation help

hi, this is my first post on the forum, just wanted to say that i find the h3 forums very informative and you all have answered alot of my questions without me having to ask, so thank you. one question i have is, i want to put a factory touchscreen navigation system in my 06 h3, it came with just the xm/cd player option, probably just a base stereo system. i have found several on ebay, but im not sure that if i purchase one of these, along with the nav cd and the antenna, it would work. will someone please give me a little education on this matter. ive been told that it wouldnt work because of issues with the amplifier.

I'm sure others will agree... Don't go with the factory Nav. It will probably cost you more money and it doesn't have near the features of some of the others that are available! I had a Fujitsu AVN30D installed and LOVE it. I can make custom screens for the startup, watch movies, hook up my iPod... A LOT of things you can't do with the factory NAV. The one I have (as well as most others) have a factory look to them.

Just my .02!

I belive the OEM navi system is only set up to drive the Monsoon sound system. At the very least, you'll have to add an amp too and then it will make sense to replace the factory speakers while you're at it. IF you intend to go this far, a complete aftermarket system will give you better results and will offer more features.

If you just want a map display/route navigation function, go with one of the new Garmin or other brand dash-top units. It's the most cost effective solution and you can take it with you into your other cars. Also, navi systems from dedicated navigation system vendors tend to be supported longer with navigation map updates down the road.
