Thanks for he scold however I performed a Hummers forum search as you can tell by my post word for word have you had read before typing out hasty reply. Obviously I have not found the Knock sensor or complete information I needed. I was hoping someone had already performed a replacement and had pics. I guess I misunderstood as I thought this forum was to help a Hummer owner when they faced problem through shared knowledge.

Speaking of your reply I noticed your description of the hummers you have and had are longer than my original post, if you concern is space maybe cut back the Gone Hummers .. Just a thought from a newbie .

WOW, your ire is outstanding but misplaced! Mentioned nothing about saving space. I mentioned saving time and not having to start a thread when a simple search or two would have worked. Also, if you read the links I posted they tell you exactly where to look.

I remember when reading was fundamental.

Please click the links and read. Second one is all about the evolution of the 3500 I5. Also mentions the position of the knock sensor and has an exploded view of the location.

The now, now, now generation. Take the time slow down and research and read.

Default Completed / Installed

I had the Engine replaced a my garage and what I had thought had happened connector clip was not connected. I tried to push it on but wouldn't click..

SO to locate the Knock Sensor on an I5 raise the front end, use a stand as well for safety, remove the inner wheel well liner. 8 plastic clips and yes they break easy ordered a 100 online $3.99. once the liner is out look straight in. A 5/8 ratchet on a 1' extension made quick work of it. Simply replace with the new KS and secure it back in and clip the connector on until it clicks. When I looked at the old KS I noticed one of the tabs bent not allowing the connector to fully seat and click..

With the liner off this was a great time to replace the parking bulb 194 bulb ordered from Ebay a T10 LE but was too tall by 1/8 " to install and lock in.

I also noticed before I buttoned it up ( the inner wheel well ) that I was missing a starter bolt. SO quick rip to the Chevy dealer and $5.99 later had that and installed it.

Fired it up clear the code and has not come back .

Thanks for all who responded with your help.....job done !!

To be honest I didn’t know where my knock sensors were and I still don’t. When this code popped up in the system I knew it wasnt going to be a cheap fix. After talking around I had people tell me to run higher octane gas for awhile while. Sometimes rarely using injection cleaners will losing up big chunks, doing more bad than good. Either use them often or don’t use them at all. Another idea brought today was checking the air intake. Making sure there were no leaks. Come to find out One of the rubber seals was loose and air was being sucked in the top. Once repositioned and back in place the check engine light had turned off )) btw average shop price to replace knock sensors $720-$900. Parts run about $260. Labor $500

On the I5 motor The Knock sensor cost me $30 on Ebay and about an hour : 15 overall to install including removing and replacing the inner wheel well.
