The worst hybrid I saw was 26 mpg. I couldn't get that in a H3 going downhill in nuetral with a tail wind.

Hehe... good one

If you go back couple of slides you'll see:
2007 GMC Sierra Classic 15 Hybrid 4WD and 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic 15 Hybrid 4WD both @ 16 mpg

Don't get so excited buddy, That jeep in your link is a 6.1 8 cyl. (which means it has a LOT bigger engine than Hummers 5.3) in other words, your not comparing apples-to-apples.
My wifes Grand got 18-21 mpg which ain't all that bad (it had the 3.7 six cyl.)
When I googled H3 mpg this was the first thing to come up http://www.autotropolis.com/car.revi...ueleconomy.htm
I don't consider the mpg i'm geting in my H3 to be decent in ANY respect and I've NEVER seen 18 mpg in that thing.

If I run the speed limit mileage is not to bad if I run 5 or more over it drops fast. Using a ScangaugeII and watching the GPM or the cost per mile can really make you do the speed limit. Anyway I don't care I Love My H3!! My other car is a Cadillac and it gets 28MPG. Somehow that sounds weird?

The 6.1 liter in the Jeep Grand Cherokee means that it is the SRT-8 model. That is the only version that the 6.1 gets put in. And it has 420hp. A fair trade, I think.

Just for grins, here's a comparison of 4wd SUVs using the comparison tool on edmunds.com... for some reason the tool wouldn't let me pick an automatic tranny for the5cyl H3...

I'm probably stating the obvious in this forum, but I think this shows that the H3fuelefficiency is typicalwhen compared toother 4wd SUVs with similar engine displacement... give or take 1 to 2 mpg is noise when compared to theweight of a driver's right foot.

What I find interesting is how the Touareg gets 20mpg highway while weighing almost 400lb more and making 38hp more than the 5cyl H3... must be the 6spd automatic+better aerodynamics? Maybe its drivetrain design is optimized for the pavement? I don't know much about VWs...
