This is not bad hook up to your trialer hitch or add one like the h2 in front

Then you have the hassle of unhooking it when your stuck in mud and moving it to the back or front, I like mine because its hidden, doesnt hang off the front or back, or take up room inside, and i kept my factory approach angles without the hassle of removing it, as soon as one is made for the back like the sema trucks i will but that too,

The nice thing about a removable winch is you only need to lug the extra weight around when you want to, i.e. going off road, and not around town eating up gas mileage when you don't need it. Also, you can buy one winch and use it on both ends, depending on which way you decide to go whe you get stuck, or where it will be of most value for the situation. Also, the permenate wiring on the vehicle can be used for jumper cable leads if you get another end to plug into the recepticle. It can also be used on another vehicle, if the other vehicle has a reciever hitch, by temporarily direct wiring it to the battery. this may be useful if you cant get your vehicle into a good position to recover the other one, or yours.

The multi-mount winches can be very useful in situations like you describe. However, the impact on the approach angle is a big drawback. Not to mention, H3's don't have front receivers so you would need to have something installed anyways.

Also, weight really isn't an issue. An extra hundred pounds is not going to noticeably affect your MPG.

The quick-connects are cool though. I'm actually putting them on mine to use with my compressor.

Did you see what you need to do to the front of the h3 to put a front hitch on, you have to put a notch in the front skid plate, so you are losing approach angle

I didn't look that close, so maybe I missed something, but the reciever part that permenately attaches to the vehicle should come out where the license plate area is on the front bumper. The skid plate just protects the front dif/lower suspension mounts, and steering. this won't affect approach angles any, or minimally if at all. The only time the approach angle should be affected is if the winch is mounted to the vehicle. If it were me, I would leave it in cargo area until needed, then attatch it to the vehicle.
