H3 Alpha. my first drive....
so, we received 3 Alphas on monday. i have to admit, i was pretty excited to drive one. first and foremost, these things do look pretty different with the grey painted front bumper. the Alpha badging is great on the headrests and steering wheel, but other than that, it's just your basic H3. that is, until you turn the key. you can immediately hear the difference with the 5.3 liter underneath. not quite as rugged of a V8 sound as the H2, but much more attitude altogether.
so, i'm not sure if it was the excitement of the opportunity to flog this thing around, or the 9 pounds of chili i had for lunch, but i'd like to say for the record, i'm the first recorded person to officially fart in a V8 powered H3. anyway, launch and first gear seemed pretty similar to the 5 cyl. truck, except it feels much smoother, and not as strained. through the rest of the gears, it's a night and day difference, especially while cruising, and bouncing down into the passing gears. it's enough to put a smile on this mustang guy's face. the one i test drove was equipped with the offroad package, so i decided to take her over our course. the course seemed so effortless for this beast. where the 5 cyl. screams up our 60 degree hill, almost in pain, the Alpha rides it easier than jenna jameson in "i dream of jenna".
i wish HUMMER would have made the V8 available in a base model, to make it a little more affordable, but i guess we gotta take what we're given. do yourself a favor, stop by your local dealership. these things should be pretty available this month.

For an extra 4K, I am not impressed with the Alpha. I have driven one quite a bit, and even when compared to my 3.5L, it is not worth the price. That is, unless you have to tow something. However, for off-roading, there will not be much of a difference, unless in deep sand....
I do hope GM sells a ton of them, the profit margin is quite high.....
(Sounds gross, but you are not the first to fart in an Alpha. I know a few who took some on cross country trips and yes, they farted.)[X(]
