Default H3 Alpha

Looking at a couple 2008 H3 Alpha's. I have found tons on information on the standard H3 but is there anything specific I need to watch out for on the Alpha?

The one I have been eyeing has 75k on the ticker and is the highest mileage vehicle I am considering. I have also looked at the I5 versions and find them to be fine, but the ones I have found so far are pretty stripped down for the money.

Thank you.

I have an 08 Alpha and have only experienced minor annoyances with it so far. I've been having problems with my traction control randomly failing and its been at the dealer twice without being fixed. Last time I got it back and it happened again I lost my **** on my them and made them order an encoder motor and a TCCM, haven't had a problem since. I told them right off the bat it was one of those two things based on the service bulletins I've read. They didn't listen and opted to replace my 4x4 controls on the dash.....

Don't ask me, guess they don't know how to find their own TSB's.

Other than that, I had a light on my HVAC zone control out, does that count?

I love this damn truck to death. It also runs a pretty common engine in case you BTM or it just gets old and clunky, I see myself keeping this truck for a long time.

I have a 2010 Alpha/Offroad and I love it. Of course I loved my 06 and 08 with the inline 5 too. They are just a fun vehicles to own. My master cylinder was replaced under warranty that is the only problem I have had in 15K.

The primary one I have been looking at is a 2008 Alpha with 75,000 miles. It seems pretty nice and even has the Gobi Roof rack. They are asking 20,500 and I am trying to get them down off that. So far no luck. I was hoping the fact they have had it 90+ days would get them to budge some more. I was hoping to score it for 17k, because I am a tightwad

That is a very good price unless it is ragged out. I did a quick AutoTrader search and the cheapest one like you describe was $20,900 with 92K.

I only saw it in the dark. It seemed very clean. The 'get up and go' factor wasn't much more then the 3.7L I5 though I didn't think. If I do something on it I plan to drive the hour again to see it in daylight.

I paid 22k for mine with 36k on the clock.

I found out the dealer had it forever, and couldn't get rid of it for some reason. I traveled for 2 1/2 hours to come look at it, haggled like crazy on the price, and told them if they let me walk off the dealership I wouldn't be coming back due to the distance.

They caved eventually and my dad drove me down so he left and I drove it home with a huge smile on my face. They didn't treat me very nice since they probably broke even on it, but whatever, I got what I wanted and won't ever be going back to that dealer again.

******** gave it to me needing to be detailed, the spare had the center cap missing, I only got one keyless entry remote, there was a ding in the drive side passenger door, and to top it all off they gave it to me with the fuel light on.

Apparently they only give full tanks of gas with new cars since they get factory rebates or some nonsense. Its not the money, it the fact of the matter in treating a customer right. Vehicles are also detailed fully when they arrive on the lot, and never again after that, just ran through the car wash.

#5 GM dealer in the country my ***. I guess they're so high volume that they don't care about treating their customer right. Stay away from Jack Maxton in Columbus, Ohio.

Oh yeah, and after trashing them in a Google review, they called me to make to make it right. The catch was I had to bring the truck back in to be fully detailed and have the ding removed, and it had to be there by 9am. No thanks.

Retards, the lot of them.

So Draketh, how did you really feel about the dealer and your customer experience? I'm not sure I got a clear sense of your opinion.

Well, overall I passed on the Alpha, just too many miles for that kind of money to me. We just picked up this 2008 I5 model for a good deal. My friend at the dealer got us a hookup, it was the cheapest 2008 in the area after she got it down.

I'd really like to get a hold of a Gobi roof rack and wind deflector with lights for it eventually. Maybe later this summer or next year if I feel the need. I have an M416 military trailer that would also be at home behind it.
