Default H3

Hello all I'm a new comer just need some info on a H3 which I'm planning to buy but my main concern is the 5 cylinder engine, how reliable is the engine. I know years gone by i was always told to star far from 5 cylinder engines i know technology has come a far way where engines are concern. Any info regarding reliability would be greatly appreciated.

which 5 cyl? look around there are several running well over 100k miles without problems. There is one guy who has seen one with over 200k. If it is taken care of, it will last.

I have a buddy with over 150K on one and I sold some parts to another H3 owner with over 215K on it. One is a 3.5L and the other was a 3.7L.

Are there any known issues with 5 cylinder 3.5 & 3.7 L engines I know years gone by audi had a 5 cylinder engine that gave no ends of problems.

Thanks you all for your speedy reply.

Time to use the SEARCH function and read a lot. Tons of threads for you to look at. Especially the 3.5 in 06.

Times have changed since the 90's....Audi 1990+ != Hummer 2006+
I am not a Hummer veteran like others here but if you take care of any vehicle, look for leaks/fractures and resolve them, connect ODB2 up and see if anything internal is going on, dont put in cheap gas, be religious on maintenance routines, blah blah blah it should last for a long time.
Look up "Hummer H3 for sale on Bing/Yahoo/Google", you'll see some for sale with 180+k miles on them.
Then again, if you think you cant afford a Hummer, you cant afford a Hummer
