H2 speedometer reset????
Today I jumped my 04 H2 and noticed the speedometer was sitting at 60 mph. (the key wasn’t in)
So as I drove around 60 mph, the speedometer was showing 120 mph.
Defiantly off.
I needed to reset it.
So I turned the key ½ the way to start and back off. The speedometer needle moved down about 5 mph.
I repeated this process until the needle was at ZERO.
Now:
Is this process the correct way to reset the speedometer?
Is my speedometer correct?
Why did this happen in the first place?

The only repairs that were done in the last week, was:
New tires mounted
New door locks, due to a break in and theft of my wife’s bag.

Any ideas would help
Thanks
That's kinda COOL how you got the speedo back to ZERO!!!!
All's I know is that AFTER A WHILE(and I have an '04 as well), I've read that the GM speedos will FAIL!!
About 6 months ago my RPM's went CrAzY so I brought it to the dealer(warranty) and they replaced the WHOLE SPEEDO!!!
Hope this isn't the case with yours!!!

They do have a "campaign" out on some of the older trucks. It is not an official recall, but the dealership should be able to pull your VIN and see if your vehicle qualifies for the replacement cluster.
