Default 2003 H2 Hummer steering wheel controls.

I took my 2003 H2 with me to my assignment in West Africa. The power steering gearbox finally started leaking. I asked the local mechanic to replace the compelete power steering gearbox with a new one that I brought with me from the US because he was able to replace the seals with a new seal kit. I got my H2 back two days later to find out that all the steering wheel controls are dead and the air bag light stays on. I checked all the fuses no bad fuse found. Can anyone help with suggestions about where to look for the problem?
Thank you,

Diallokb

I think when he had the gearbox off the steering wheel might have turned and broke the Clock spring in the steering column. I think they are expensive ($400). Let us know what you find.

Thanks to my workshop manual, I found that the two flat wire coiled around the steering colum were cut off due to excessive force. Exactly as you said it. They just played with the steering wheel while it was free from the power steering gear box. Now I have to find for a replacement. This is the king of frustration while working for government in the third world. You work 9 hours per for them and spend the rest service your cool gadgets and have peace or ask a local to do it for you and face the consequence of more frustrations. I love my H2.
Thanks

Default I agree...

....after being rear-ended a couple of weeks ago. I get to pick up the baby tomorrow.
List is:Rear bumper (impact bar), sway bar/bushings/brackets/links, track bar, left tow loop and front/rear alignment. got the first check for $1K will see how much the links, track bar & brackets added.
I am really considering building new bumpers similar to Road Armor Dakar series, but not so heavy (they have 3/16" thick skins). I think that heavier bumpers could prevent some of the body damage.
