H2 Highway Gas Mileage to Expect

I am going on a vacation from Denver to Los Angeles and am considering taking the H2. With cruise control at 65 MPH straight and narrow (I know I have to climb over the mountains for a short stretch), what gas mileage should I expect? My H2 is in perfect shape FYI... Thanks!

H2CANEPADESIGN 11-09-2013 11:40 AM

9-12 mpg seems to be the norm.

Man1nboat 11-09-2013 11:56 AM

Really? I am averaging 400-420/tank city/hwy. Maybe I'm just lucky :-)

H2CANEPADESIGN 11-09-2013 11:58 AM

I usually get about 13 on the highway as long as Im on flat land..but was just going off of this forums average.

Man1nboat 11-09-2013 12:02 PM

I'm lucky if I get 9 mpg highway...But I'm lifted with 40" tires...

calif phil 11-09-2013 12:35 PM

I would say 12 if there is no headwind. That is about what I get but I drive 75 mph mostly.

You going to Magic Mountain while you are there?

Kirkhayes37 11-09-2013 12:37 PM

I get about 11 no matter what the hell I do...meaning in town driving or highway.

H2CANEPADESIGN 11-09-2013 01:10 PM

I work at western tire co. of Burbank in Burbank if you wanna stop by teusday-saturday. I'd love to see the beast.

calif phil 11-09-2013 03:46 PM

I am headed to Pasadena for Thanksgiving. If I get up your way I will stop in and say hi.

LoJac963 11-09-2013 04:41 PM

You should be in the high 12's to 13's on the highway. I drive a lot of highway back and forth from work and that's where I sit.

man-of-war 11-10-2013 07:47 AM

my H2 2008 gets 15 to 16 MPG @ 75mph on the Hwy and 10 to 12 mpg in the city..

jm4372 11-11-2013 05:10 AM

I just took a 1200 mile trip in my 2005 and averaged around 13 highway. Highest I seen was 13.8.

goldeneyee 11-13-2013 07:39 PM

2008 H2. Averaged 15.8 on 500 mile trip. Was 16 mpg until Chicago rush hour traffic. I was very impressed with the milage and doubled checked with calculator at fillups...

Man1nboat 11-13-2013 07:54 PM

Thanks guys! Phil/H2 I will drop you a PM one plans are finalized...

H2CANEPADESIGN 11-14-2013 03:15 PM

I've done that drive from Denver to L.A. twice in my H2. I lived in Denver when I bought the H2. it was in L.A. so I flew out and drove it back. then did the drive again when we moved back to L.A. I don't know the fuel average on the way back as My wife drove the Beast Towing Her car while I drove a Huge Moving Truck back. I think I averaged about 13 on the way out though. not sure because I had just bought it and was more interested on the stereo ;)

This was a picture I took after resetting the gas mileage calc at the top of a mile long hill and coasting all the way down. It's fall from true but it's fun to tell people I get 40 MPG.http://imgur.com/F2HvXpK

I did a 300mile trip today. Here's what mine does consistently crushing in the freeway, with just an intake and cat back exhaust, no ecu tuning..

We drove our 2006 to Florida (from Chicago) back in 2009 and the best we saw was upper 13's but we were driving about 70-75mph. I don't see why you should not be able to get 13-14mpg's if you stay at 65mph. This past summer we drove up and spent a week in northern Wisconsin with the 2008 and I saw a best of 15.7mpg's on one fill up, averaged high 14-low 15 on the other fill ups. This was due to flat roads and speeds of around 60mph once we were up there. Also they don't have ethanol in the gas up there.

I agree... On a flat road on a mine hit 14's, your MPG varies on the road you drive into..
