Default H2 Electrical problem

Just bought a 2003 H2 w/ 59k miles from the original owner an noticed the turn signals front and rear on the left side did not work and the indicator on the cluster blinked very fast. I figured bulbs, no big deal, but after I got it home and changed the bulbs it did not correct the problem. I also noticed that the ABS and Trac lite also glowed but very dimly and the Tach was inop. I don't know if I have one or more problems but I suspect the tach is a cluster issue and the signal is a ground issue since the ABS lamp seems to blink in rythem with the turn signal indicator in the cluster. The signal lamp on the left quarter panel does work but it is the only one that does on the left side. I am very weak on the wiring stuff so should I head to the dealer or do y'all have any suggesting. Thank in advance for any help. Mike

First I would locate the flasher relay. See if there is an identical one in the fuse panel. Check your manual it could be under the hood, on the drivers side of the dash (door has to be open to access it. Swap it with the identical relay and see if the the problem persists.

I have a feeling that the PO tried to fix the tach issue and has disturbed other things I. The cluster. Not a fun one, for sure.

Check the left side bulbs. If they have an led bulb in either, it can cause the signals to blink fast like that.

Problem fixed! Looks like during the time the H2 sat out under the owners carport Mr squirrel built himself a nice little crib under the fuse box under the hood. He chewed up 4 wires to the signals, tach, abs and trac lamp. Dealer charged $297.00 to repair and everything. Truck runs great.

That is a nice outcome. Sounds like the dealer did you right.

^agreed. Not sure if this is true or not. But I recall reading something about them using peanut oil being used to lubricrate the wires as an environmental alternative. Glad to hear it's sorted out. Sounded like a troubleshooting nightmare.
