Since the Hummer began angering environmentalists years ago, enthusiasts have hurried to get their hands on various special edition models. Even with sport utility vehicle sales in a steady decline, Hummer has announced a special edition model for the 2009 year. The 2009 Hummer H2 Black Chrome Edition will be offered on both the H2 and H2T models, and production will be limited to just 1,300 units.

Some manufacturers have concerned themselves with fuel economy and alternative forms of power, but Hummer has kept their eyes on what is most important; exterior appearance (even though this is a FlexFuel vehicle). The Black Chrome Edition doesn’t offer any power or economy gains, but it does offer Hummer’s new “Black Chrome”, so everywhere the H2 has chrome on the regular models, the special edition H2s feature the mirrored finished black trim. The grille, rims, gas door, vents, mirrors, and all other formerly chrome items show off the new gloss black. If you want your Black Chrome H2 to be super exclusive, you can select the new Sedona Metallic, which is similar to copper in color.

Between the aftermarket and the popularity of the H3 Tactical Edition which carried a handful of black trim upgrades, Hummer has recognized the desire for black, but a refusal to give up chrome, and this new dress-up package should continue the cult-like popularity of the Hummer, as the new Black Chrome Edition is really like nothing else.

I had access to the factory parts and converted a 2008 Hummer H2 to the Limited Dark Chrome Edition AKA Oil Rubbed Bronze. There were only four made for production before closure and they were Sedona not black. So this is the only black one out there that I know of. I'll post a new thread when I get better pics. She needs a bath right now.
