H1 Wheel bearing replacement
My front wheel bearing is bad on my -99 TD.
I ordered the inner and outer bearings (also the both cones)
Are there seals or something else.(CTIS etc.) that should be replaced while in there. Also any special tools needed?
Lots of info pieces around internet, but if someone can give me 'do's and absolutely dont's', I would appreciate.
Thanks.

Its pretty straight forward. The only thing I would tell you is to make sure you push the locking tabs back on the washer. they are bent up against the big nut on the output shaft. Once these are pushed back, you can just about spin the nut off by hand. Well maybe not that easy, but if you don't have a socket that size, a hammer and punch will knock it loose. Just be sure not to preload it too much on assembly. There is a seal on the output and input shaft. extremely easy to replace. I have replaced all of them on my truck and have replaced them in the field on HMMWVs in my 14 years in the army. Just be careful not to damage the seal seats on the final drive housing. They make a seal puller tool, but if you are careful and easy, a flat blade screwdriver works fine. You will also need to but some sealer to seal the inspection plate back up. I just use some high temp silicon. Believe me when I say this. It is not a hard job. If the army trusts privates to do this job, it is not difficult. Im an old crusty Airborne Infantryman and I do these repairs in the field when Im deployed.
