Tarek,

I spoke with Dan Collins at AMG today about dropping an 04-06 interior into a 96. Mike had talked to everyone at AMG about it and apparently the topic was thoroughly discussed. I knew that if Mike said it couldn't be done it couldn't be done. No one knows H1s like Mike.Dan said that there was no way the two door trucks could be adapted. AMG did not make a 2 door 04-06 so many of the pieces don't even exist. On the wagon the attachment points , etc don't match. He said it would be a disaster to try and he doesn't think anyone could make a customer happy trying. He said Rick Wallich from AMG had seen your trucks. I wish I had better news but this has been very thoroughly analyzed and the AMG people concur that it can't be done. Dan did mention that some custom shops might possibly be able to design and install a custom interior that you would be happy with. Anyway I went to the source and it looks like the 04-06 interior won't work in your trucks. Let me know if I can help anymore.

David

Thank you very much David..........I don't know how to thank you. You have been very helpful and very kind.

I will go with a new 2003 interior as Mike suggested.

Thanks again.........kind regards,

Tarek

Default H1 restoration to Alpha 1 standard if possible

I live between London UK and Boston MA and happen to own one of the most least acceptable vehicles in the UK at the moment.... an HI Hummer.

It is a black normally aspirated model (I think 1996) that was one of (I believe) one of 156 right hand drive vehicles produced by GM for the Australian market. Nike imported it into the UK and used it promotionally for a while and then I acquired it sometime thereafter.

I would like to have the vehicle restored and probably brought up to Alpha 1 standard but can’t find anyone either here or in the US to do the job for me...... perhaps you could assist me in locating a firm that could do the job either here or the USA.. or even Canada.

I have tried calling and emailing Lynch Hummer but they won't respond despite 3 attempts.. much have too much work !!

Many thanks

Tim,

Pm Hummech here at HummerForums or on Humvee.net. Mike is a longtime H1 mechanic and can do the things you talk about. Predator Motorsports can also do the conversion. Lynch would be good if you could get them interested. Lynch has been unusally non-responsive lately. They are trying to move their shop and may not want long term projects at the moment.
Post who you might be going to first because there are some people to stay away from.

I'd listen to Mike and AM General.

One thing I noticed with the older style vs new style [04-06] interiors is that that it seems the older interiors seem to hold up to abuse a bit better then the newer style.

I've been in and looked up close at about 4 or 5 04's and Alphas and all of them have had stress cracks or broken panels already.

That's my observation.

Not saying any H1 interior is durable. I redid my interior and it took a few weeks, off and on to replace parts, fix cracks, and repaint things.

Kurt, Mike is trying to get ahold of you. You should have gone to Moab with us, it was a blast.
