H1 Problems , need help
hi
i finally registered my H1 hummer few days back , its great fun to drive on the road and offroad too , i have driven bently , lamborghinis and mercedes but nothing grabs attention like a h1 hummer
i took it to the mechanic the other day , and the car does need some maintenance
its a 1996 h1 with gas engine 5.7liter v8
i have the following questions as i want only the best for my H1
what fanbelt does it use? any GM part number for this or equivalent?
i have 40% left on my brakes , what is part number or equivalent for this ?
my CTIS has small leak in the rear tires , every few days the pressure drops to 10-15psi ? were could the leak be from? how to fix this one?
also about engine oil , our summer go above 35night/53dayCelcius , and our winters are like 18night / 35celcius day , what oil grade is good? 5w30 ,5w40 , 10w30 , 20w50 ?
is it okay to add an extra electric fan on the radiator ? will it help beat the summer heat?
also about gas grade , is standard 95 octane ok? or 98 octane is better? does it make difference for these engines?

There are many here who can answer your questions, but it's easy info you require that can be had here:
http://www.HummerKnowledgeBase.com/H1.html
and here:
http://www.flashoffroad.com/humdefault.htm
you should also invest in a maintenance cd with more info than you'll ever need. Dave at Bluehummer.com has them as do folks at both links I think.
do a quick search or just check the topics as many things you asked have recently been discussed.

I've always had the best service from the factory brake pads. I recommend sticking with those.
CTI leaks can come from various places but the two most common areas are the seal inside the hub and the quick-disconnect fitting located at the center of the wheel.
AMG recommends 10W-30 or straight 30W engine oil for the gas engines in your climate (it sounds like you are outside the US).
It is possible to add an electric fan to the radiator. Some people have had good results, but many others have seen no improvement. From my own experience, if your cooling system is in good repair, then it should provide sufficient cooling under most circumstances.
Considering the best commonly available gas grades here in the US are 93 octane, it sounds like anything you choose will be fine
