I have a 2002 H-1 with a 3 year old Warn winch that has stopped working. I took it back to the 4x4 shop that put on the winch and they tested it per Warn to say the motor was bad. We ordered and installed the motor to find the gears have rusted up, causeing the motor to go bad. Warn said the winch must have been submerged, well durring off-roading yes it had been underwater for 30 seconds or so. Has anyone else had issues with the Warn winch?

The 4x4 shop suggested I check with this forum if anyone has been told the winch cannot use the side posts on the batteries as was done in my case. As this winch was installed to replace an off-brand winch that was on the vehicle when I bought it 4 years ago.

 

My winch has been dunked many times with no issues. It is the factory installed Warn. My batteries terminals are on the top if that is what you are asking.
