Great magazine praises the H3
My new issue of Overland Journal had a very interesting article on a H3 that was used on a trip in the VERY remote area of Lesotho, Africa. This is a place that I never heard of and that does not get any more remote.
The magazine states, "Though this is the magazine's first overland trek featuring an H3, it is not for any shortfall in the vehicle's capabilities. I've had the opportunity to drive them across Nevada, through challenging routes in the Sierra Nevada, and down the Baja peninsula, Mexico. Though visibilty was akin to a chopped "38 Ford, drive systems worked exceptionally well, and foreign models were available with a fuel sipping diesel mill. While an H3 is not the most economical choice in overland vehicles, neither are some of the other brands we ...love. I was sorry to see the brand die on the economic vine."
I might add that anyone interested in both exceptional glossy photography (large format pages 8 1/2" by 11"), amazingly interesting travel to far off lands and great product tests on compressors, LED lighting, GPS's,wenches, camping equipment, etc will find this the very best in off road/travel magazines. It is by far the best magazine of its kind that I ever read.
I wish I could post the photos of this red H3 driving through remote villages in Africa but maybe someone else with more computer skills could post them from the current issue, Summer 2011.
Anyone interested in the magazine can get more info by calling (928) 777-8567. The magazine is like a large National Geographics for people who like to 4WD and travel to very remote places.

Overland Journal sponsored the Pacific Northwest Overland Rally in Ellensburg, WA a couple weeks ago. Got to meet Scott Brady and Brian Vickers (two of the founders)...great down-to-earth guys, super knowledgeable and fair to the H3 I was driving. Even more so after I (and copilot Will) won the Expedition Trophy. Next Rally in end of September in Vermont and then the California Rally is at Hollister end of October. I'll be going to the Hollister Rally to defend my Trophy and would love to see some other Hummer owners out there - I was the only Hummer at the PNW Rally!!
