I'm going to update to HID's. anyone no witch ones to use and how hard to Install?

 

Sig Starr Xennon HID. 3 hours to install. Best money I have spent on the H3 so far.

 

I installed an HID kit, and have subsequently removed it. I am back to the original halogen lighting.

I purchased my kit on ebay from Autopialighting. It was the 6000K bi-xenon kit. It was advertised as "plug and play", but itwas far from that. According to the manufacturer, the polarity of the H3 required them to provide spades that slide into the factory light harness rather than a real plug. The spades that they provided were too wide to fit, so I had to shave them down with a Dremel tool to fit. Once I got the wires to fit, the low-beam HID lights were very nice. The kit was supposed to have halogen high-beams, but they would never work. Additionally, the DRL voltage was too low to power the HIDs as DRLs, so I lost that functionality.

I chose to go back to the halogens, because I wanted DRLs and I wanted high-beams.

Even though the company was good with the return of the product, I would NOT recommend buying from Autopialighting on ebay. Their kit doesn't work properly with the HUMMER H3.

SIG Automotive Concepts
You have probably made your decision by now, but here goes
I just had to write in and tell you that I just installed the HID headlight system from SIG Automotive Concepts. I'm sure some of you have seen them for sale at some Hummer web sites.
Well, I am just stunned by the light output of these headlights.
I have had high wattage halogens in the past, but they don't even come close to these lights.
The entire kit is a plug and play system. It looks very OEM when installed.
I chose the black housing to match the black grill I have on my H3.
These lights are also approved by and have the stamp of DOT on the lens housings.
It is just amazing to me that you can have so much more light and even have them last much longer then halogen filament bulbs and be legal, too.
Do yourself a favor and look into these incredible lights

How do the day time running lights work with SIG kit?

 

i bought mine HID's off of craigslist for like $150 they came and installed it. I have a 06 so my day time running lights are the blinkers so mine do not get effected. The only thing tho is i have no high beams. I dont need them but if i try an d blink or flash somebody my headlights flash off but there so bright people get the hint

 

wfturner.....right on the money. i've had HID's on my cars for several years. i pulled the trigger and put onSIG'sand have had them up and running since August.There's absolutelyno doubt in my mind that it's the some of the bestmoney i've spent on mods.I would only assume that GM at some point wouldseriously look into making this a factory option (at the very least) if not standard.

saywhat.....i talked at length with KeithRobinson, presidentwith SIG automotive, regarding the DRL feature with the SIG HID lights and if there would be any potential issue or shortage of lifespan for the light ballast, converter, etc. If your desire is to keep DRL's active, the HID lights willsimply "beon"and will not operate atany "dimmer" levelas the current OEM halogen lights operate. There's not any additional stress, or strain, on the lights or system.Once the lights power up, as they takelessamp tokeep illuminated,the wattage supplied at even the DRL stage is more than it takes to operate the system. However, i elected to override the DRL feature and pull the fuse (#39 Ibelieve) which deactivatesthe DRLcircuite altogether. I usually run with my side markers and/or fogs on during the early morning hoursanyway, soit was no issue whatsoever. When dim exterior light conditionsare detected through the OEM dashboard sensor, the lightspower up just like OEMat the "Auto" setting.

 

Yup, I pulled out the DRL fuse on mine (#39).

I'm still thinking long and hard about getting the STARR HID kit for the H3. I wouldn't bother with those drop-in bulbs.

I think some websites are selling the lights for $899 now. Not a bad deal IMO.
