So getting ready to order a Gobi roof rack, my H3 has a sunroof, however I'm not thrilled about getting the Gobi rack with the sunroof insert, and thinking about going with a full rack, as I figure I can still open the sunroof just will have the rack grate over it.

Anyone had any experience with the sunroof insert? or putting in a full sized rack with a sunroof?

 

I have the full size Gobi with the leave out for the sunroof, no insert. Not sure if the clearance is there to open the sunroof with the full rack. Timgco can tell you for sure.

I'm sure 3hunners was talking about venting the sunroof not opening it.


I would think you could "vent" the sunroof with the non-sunroof Gobi. But not 100%

 

Yeah, just not liking how the insert attaches, seems kind of insecure, and they have warnings for it that everything has to be strapped to the main rack, not the insert, which makes sense, but also makes you doubt how sturdy the insert is.

 

if they didn't have that warning you know someone would load 300lbs on just that insert and then file a lawsuit for the insert failing

 

Yeah, ordered it today, with the insert... I'll let you know how it turns out, but 5-6 weeks later... as it has to be ordered, fab'd, and shipped... Pics to follow some day... probably about the time it's actually warm in Michigan again I hope.
