Default gauge issues/not the usual?

Anybody else had this one yet? Doesn't seem to be the stepper motors, as all my gauges either work or none of them do. I can take it apart and wiggle the connection to the back of the instrument cluster and find the "sweet spot" where they all come back on, but it rarely lasts past the time it takes to put it back together. Obviously it seems to be a connecting problem but, how the h*ll does one fix it??!! Is the "pigtail" that comes out of the dash available to replace? Searched to no avail... Additional possibly pertinent info, back lighting, cel (grrrrr), and turn signal indicators all work even when none of the gauges, dic, or gear indicator do...

I wonder if adding some dielectric grease would help the connection. It can't hurt.

I actually took the back off of the cluster assembly and "shimmed out" the pins that the pigtail plugs into with some folded up cardboard, put the back on and plugged her back in. Hardly a fix, but so far so good. Haven't had a lot of behind the wheel time to see how long it'll last tho, as I'm experiencing major trans/transfer case issues currently.

Thinking I'll use a plastic shim of some sort if this rig job fails me. The cardboard was just a trial kinda thing.
