Fuel Smell in oil

Fuel Smell in oil
Has anyone experience the smell of fuel in their oil?
Also burning oil, or it's going somewhere between oil changes, there is no visible leaks that I can find, exhaust is not smoking...
Thanks for your input.

i cant imagine how you noticed the smell!! but since you did,i would test that oil,FAR AWAY FROM THE H3, by lighting a match near some. if it ,the fumes, light quickly, you somehow got gas in the oil and should put your keys away till its fixed. gas in oil means very poor lubrication, blown engine!
if the flame test dont work id still have it tested by someone who knows about that stuff, not me.
you can burn oil without a big cloud of smoke. if you loose a quart or 2 you might never notice it.
later, thinking, how could gas get in the oil??? no direct path to the crankcase.

Oddly enough, I noticed the exact same things my last oil change. I would say only about 4-4.5 quarts came out. I know the filter holds a bit when its saturated but that seemed excessive. I think the fuel smell is just a basic benzene smell from the used oil and we are being a bit sensitive but I could be wrong. As of today I am off till after the new year so I will check it out a little and post.

The sort of direct path would be badly worn rings or broken rings and/or an injector over fueling but to get a lot down in the crankcase usually would also be indicated by a fouled plug or wetted out plug. There would also be raw fuel coming out the exhaust. "In the old days."
"Nowadays" it would seem the pooter would try to adjust the rich burn or lack thereof and I have no idea the outcome of that, yet.
Oil analysis would tell you the contamination in the oil.
That sort of testing is best done on scheduled basis to determine changes in the content for other monitoring.
A compression check would also be a way to check for problems.

Hmmmm.....When I switched Mr. Blue (08 Alpha) over to Synth the first oil change after that I also noticed a "fuel" smell. But it has not smelled "fuely" since.

I was thinking you were asking because, being synthetic, it really doesnt have that characteristic benzene smell of a regular oil. I smelled it again today and compared it to some new oil, there is a definite funk to it. What I am kind of stumped on is the operating condition doesnt support anything major being wrong really. I have no other symptoms. I will probably just keep an eye on it and not sweat it too much.
