Default Front plastic hood grill, recall on H3

Hi, i just bought a new stainless hood grill,if i remember correctly a few years ago there was a recall for the plastic hood grill and they glued it down so it did not fly off and hit anyone, behind you.

Does anyone know what type of glue they used,so i can remove it from the paint ??

I have not tried to, remove the plastic yet,but im sure its gona be a tug-of-war getting it off the hood for the new stainless hood bling....

Thank You, Rick

I got no idea what exact kind of glue they use, but people have pulled them off before. Slow and steady pressure, make sure to push up on the exposed clips from under the hood first.

When mine was recalled all they did was pull it off and put some doublesided adhesive tape strips on the bottom, then pressed it back in place.

They use some super adhesive black 3M goop. I've heard its better to heat with a hair dryer from below first to get the adhesive a little more pliable. I will be doing it eventually but haven't tackled it yet.

Let us know how it goes.

update: removed the hood grill, after tapping on the 3 seen clips and started to pull at one conner, the hood was hot from all day south Florida sun,it was 96,here again, the grill came up with a constant pull force, and removed it,now it has 3/ 3/4 inch lines of black siilcone lines on the hood, with black paint under the silicone,im going to remove the silicone tommrow, and try some lacquer thinner, hopefully i can get the new stainless hood grill on the truck and out of wifes closet......lol

I put a stainless steel grill on my 2004,with billet handles about 8 years ago, still looks as good as this brand new one for the H3,both were bought at realWheels
well worth the $578.00 for never having to worry about the product peeling of fading, flaking off.......
