Default Front end knock

Hey guys, wondering if you can help. I've recently bought an 05 H2 with 17,000 miles on. It has a knock from the front end than can be felt in the steering, it seems more like a knock over bumps up and down, not side to side. Any idea's?

Any help is appreciated.

Jay

I would guess if you hear knocks over bumps or something, it would be your ball joints. If replaced, make sure you order the factory gm that comes heavy duty with the fixed control arm. There could also be the issue with the steering column. Many Hummers were installed with a steering column that produces an unpleasant noise because everything around the steering column is fixed and when turning, the steering column is basicly creeking to adjust. I dont believe that it is a problem other than an unpleasant noise though.

I would be willing to bet its a body mount problem. Does this knock occur when you are going over a bump or going over a curb?

If you feel it in the steering my guess is the pitman/idler arm is worn.

Google your problem (key words) or search here. I recall there was a service bulletin about a steering bracket or mount.
