Developed a scratching sound that I would have sworn were my brakes 2 weeks ago. Mechanic checked brakes while dingj oil change and said all was well. Took quick peak few times after work, but I admit it was half hearted at best.
Yesterday had a new sound, that clamp that breaks on shield over exhaust pipe in rear. While under the truck, I found my " bad brakes " noise that has been diagnosed as bearings, transfer case and brakes by my fellow shade tree mechanics.
Was small piece before I ripped it down, rubbing on top side of the drive shaft. Made me nuts for a couple of weeks.
You removed the built in automatic rear driveshaft polisher??
Some of the best pics I have seen for that.
Luckily, Binford sells an aftermarket replacement, I think it is the Binford 487 hanging drive shaft noise inducing polisher with attachment hardware.... complete kit.
Lmao.....drove me nuts for days. Was on inside, so a quick peak revealed nothing . Will have to crawl under and polish up the drive shaft myself going forward 😁
