Man that sucked..........Every time I tried to hit the site, I'd get nothing
but a bunch of code and my browser would lock up. A couple of times
I had to actually re-boot the PC.....
No official word on what the issue was.....Hmmmmmm......

The database was hacked. The way it was done wasn't that hard really.. The hosting company probably has either the same password on all of the databases or something that was fairly easy to figure out.
Bullitin board "code" is easy to screw up... You basically have just a few strings of code that dictate where links should point on all things clickable. (minus the adds and such) It would take a short amount of time to change the "root link" so that all sub-links that pull from that line of code are sent to the new location.
The JS trojan used comes from www.banner82.com which is known for being a "phishing site". If you do a search on banner82.com you will find other sites that have been compromised by the same people. I'm not sure if banner82.com is/was just a "zombie" pc or if it's the domain of the trojan creator. The website is now down, which leaves me to believe it was a zombie.
More info on this particular trojan that was used on our site: http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2003-102718-1528-99
Kinda what I figured........We got wind late last week of some bad JuJu going around all the sites.
As a financial services company, my employer takes that **** seriously, def-con 5 seriously............
HummerCommunity.com and Xclub were down at roughly the same time but recovered fairly quickly.
(well, let me re-phrase that, I was unable to hit those sites or got geekeese when they would respond)
Could have been for maint or something equally innocuous ...Just weird timing perhaps.
