Default First Time Owner - Indiana

I've always wanted these since they first came out. I've gone through a couple of Toyota 4runners, BMW Z4, a Mini Cooper S and finally found something in my price range that had low miles. I bought it today after starting the deal online last Friday, 110 miles from the dealer.

It's a 2006. Yes, I saw and read all the complaints on different sites. I read customer reviews on this forum, Edmonds, Cars dot com and on different dealer sites. My VIIN IS in the range for head/valve problems but after 59,824 miles there has never been any trouble with this H3. Clean CarFax. Annual mileage only averaged 8,750 miles driven per year. Since it hit the road in July 2005, it has always been serviced on required times at the Hummer dealership. The past 3 years, by notes in the owners manual and receipts, Mobil 1 Synthetic has been used with a K&N oil and air filter. I checked the air filter before my test drive, brand new. Checked the oil levels, right on the money and brand new oil.

No body scratches, dings or dents. Although after I drove the 120 miles home, and a closer inspection around and under the H3, I did notice the left tow hook in front has been slightly pushed in, barely enough that I did not notice it at the in Indiana. Surface under the car from the Indiana winters. They like to use a salt/sand mix to melt the ice and snow. Interior is perfect.

So I have read as much as I could these past few weeks before buying. I will be keeping the maintenance on schedule and plan on keeping this "monster" until the H3 or I drop. Keeping a vehicle that long, will be a first for me.

Plans...daily driver to work 12 miles away and then head west towing a 17' fiberglass travel trailer, fully loaded around 2,500 pounds. Once the camp is set, then I will be taking the H3 out for some 4 wheeling in the Moab UT area.

Thanks for all the info and how to pictures on this forum, it basically sealed the deal for me to make the purchase.

If you have the cloth with the green inserts. Then you have a rare color.

Hello and Welcome to HF from MI.

The only reason I asked is that my buddy CB has a Shadow Green Metallic 06 H3 with the Ebony cloth with the green inserts. I have only seen 1 other like it. 2 of the guys I wheel with have Shadow Green Metallic 06s. I wish they (GM) would have continued to produce that color. Especially on an H3T Alpha!
