Default First tank of gas...

I just went through my first tank of gas from the dealership little over 200 miles ! Are you kidding? What gives? No off road driving, No lead foot, Is there something i'm missing?
Is there a engine break in period? that can hurt mpg ? ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE HELPFULL !!!

Hang in there JM..There is some breaking in to do all through the drivetrain...At the first oil change start putting in Synthetic and also, make sure your tires are aired up to 40 psi...And of Course some parts of the country have switched over to winter fuel which does crap for mileage too.

I must be one of the lucky ones because When I drove my car off the lot it had 4 miles on it I just filled up my tank and had 317 miles when I pulled into the gas station. (I did run it until it was almost empty) but all things being considered it is not that bad since my Murano that I traded in usually got around 350 per tank and its EPA estimates were 20 and 24

I find that I get the best MPG.... when my wife drives it! I think ours has just over 1100 miles on it now, and she has gotten 16.1 to 16.8 MPG average (it has gone up .2 or so with each tankful). That's mostly around town, it's a 5-speed model, with her driving it like a girl (well... she is one!). I am hoping to inch it up toward 18 or so with a K&N kit and an exhaust.

Dude...I felt the same way did a milage check on the 2nd tank fuill and I was only getting 11.2 miles per gallon. the dealer said it would get better after the breakin perion of 3500 miles. at 3500 miles I check it and i was getting 14.3 mpg. I just check it again at 6500 and I am now gettin 15.44 mpg. this is all city driving...I have not taken a road trip to check highway miles yet but there you have it.

Mine has 16,000 miles on it and I get about 350 miles per tank of gas.
I drove it from Phoenix to San Diego on one tank of gas. better than the Sport Trac I had.

When I drive I average around 17.5 to 18.5. When my husband drives he gets around 15.5 to 16. I know for sure the way you drive affects the mileage, what else could it be? I'm a steady driver and can keep it at 80/85 mph on hills or backroads without cruise. My husband on the other hand is a 'mash the gas, left off the gas, mash the gas, let off the gas' driver. After a long drive I'm suffering from whiplash! [sm=smiley24.gif]

I get 180 miles per tank on a good tank....my last tank was 164 miles till the low fuel light came on. I'd give my left nut to get 300 miles to a tank.
