First Post!!
Hi, I am new to the Hummer brotherhood. I am grateful to have found this site.
I have a question already. Do the Luxury and the Adventure Package have the same gearing for normal driving? The reason I ask is I have bought a Luxury but want to upgrade to 285's on the tires but wanted to be sure that the final drive was the same.
If not will the Luxury model pull the larger tires okay?
Thanks,
twofish

first off welcome to the forum! i just joined a month ago. i have an 07 with the adventure package and as far as i know the only real differences are that the adventures have the locking rear diff and a different transfer case ratio...you should have no problem runnin 285's from all the posts i've seen on here though...even the dealer i was at last week said most people that don't have the adventure package automatically put 285's on...hope this helps
If you do want the speedometer/odometer to be accurate you will have to have the PCM reprogrammed to account for the larger tires. The dealer can do it - if your wallet doesn't mind the hit. You can also get someone like PCMforless to do the reprogram and also adjust other parameters. A lot of forum members have used them and are happy with the results.
Congrats on the new ride!
We just upgraded to 285 tires on our '06 Lux at a little over 70k miles and we are very happy!
The Adventure package has the same springs as the base and Lux but includes stiffer shocks. Now that we have about 2k miles of experience with our tire upgrade I think I know why stiffer shocks were specified and I'm looking to upgrade our shocks too. With the heavier tires, there's now more rear axle "stuttering" through potholes/bumps at higher speeds. You may want to keep this in mind too depending on your driving conditions.
At this point I'm still researching what's better, OEM Adventure package shocks or Bilstein Yellow HD shocks.
