Dealers are the LAST place I would take any of my vehicles.

If I can't fix it myself, I take it to a good independent local mechanic.

What "fan"? And any dealer, no matter how small the job, is going to give at least a 1-2 hour window for the customer; not unusual.

sorry guys, i type poorly so im brief. the melted fan harness recall. the guy on duty this morning was very good. it did take 2.5 hrs but the new wires look great, work great. had to use HEAT! today, a drop to 60 got cool! they change the resistor pack too. so good to go...

Well I work at a dealer and this specific recall has no wire splicing involved. It gets a new harness and resistor. Takes a little under an hour. The 2 to 2.5 hour window is due to write up time. Waiting for an available tech. Techs time to do job. Paperwork sorted out and printed. Not to mention techs time finding keys, vehicle in lot. bringing into shop and out. It adds up. Better to say 2.5 hours and being done early or on time than saying 1 hour and having pissed off customer that needed to be somewhere. And BTW any wire splicing I do at work is all soldered and sealed with quality shrink tube that has sealer incorporated into the seal, not the cheap stuff that has no sealer.
