I'm going to be taking the fan clutch off. The manual says to turn the nut counter clockwise. Would that be counter clockwise as you are looking at the fan from over the bumper? In aviation we give all the directions as if you were seated in the cabin looking forward. Looking at the fan, it seems to make sense that it would be CCW while looking at the fan from over the bumper, I just don't want to chance over-torqueing it as it's a 41ft/lb nut and I'm going to have to use a little muscle to get things moving in that tight space!

 

You are correct, Looking at it from the grille.

 

If you use a fan clutch nut wrench, you will barely tap the wrench with a hammer and it will be loose. No muscle necessary.
