I bought a factory GM TNR nav radio on ebay. Part number: 15230099 which I believe is the second revision TNR. Went to the dealership today to have the passlock programmed to my VIN. Everything went fine but there is no volume. When the volume dial is turned or the volume button on the steering wheel is used they do nothing. Doesn't even show a volume bar or anything like that. I have no sound what so ever.


Any ideas? The service guy said to check the connections at the back of the radio but given how hard those things click in I would be really surprised if that was the problem.


I do have the Y91 RPO code which the service guy said if the radio wasn't compatible they wouldn't have been able to program it so that should be able to be ruled out.

You have a no Lux radio...I am having the same problem. You may have to return it or try to sell it back on ebay. It sucks.

 

I read that part number is a Lux radio and the service guy said if it wasn't they wouldn't be able to program it. I saw your for sale thread, what was the part number on yours that you were having issues with?

 

So I pulled the TNR and reinstalled my factory radio and everything works. I don't get it. The TNR should work so I have a feeling it was damaged in transit. The packaging was virtually nothing, when I received it the radio was sloshing around inside the box. I'm contacting the seller to send it back so we'll see what happens.


I'm half tempted to just fork out the cash for a newer one instead of finding another one beat to hell.....ugh

 

GVF the radio you bought is NON-LUX?!


If so maybe we could just swap them out between us. I think I need a non-LUX and here is why:


Pulled my amp, part number: 15267753 and from looking that up it is NOT a LUX amp even though I have the Y91 RPO code. Found an old thread on another site mentioning that the Y91 RPO doesn't mean you have the LUX amp, only the 9 speaker Bose system. UQ7 is the LUX amp which I don't have, I believe I have UQA.


Then I read a site which said the UQA/Y91 codes ARE the LUX amp.......omfg I don't understand why this is so difficult......
I already contacted the seller about sending the radio back even though


I'm sure there's nothing wrong with it. I have no idea how much the "smart" amps go for but it would just be easier to buy a non-lux radio at this point.
