Just picked up another H3 today, 2008 in really nice condition with 62,000 miles on it.

I'm going kinda nuts reading about all the different warranty companies and who is good and who is not.

Suggestions for an extended warranty company and any other input anyone could provide would be most welcome.

IMHO complete waste of $$. I never buy a warranty on anything because my father used to be a dealership General Manager. They take your $$ on a good bet they will never ever pay a claim, even if you make one. Been doing this for more than 30 years with 100% on my $$ in my pocket instead of some warranty provider and zero possible claims.

 

My warranty (came with the purchase) just saved me an apparent $1,700 (Forward sprag, rear main seal, automatic clutch components). But who knows how accurate their prices/labor rates are...

I looked into some extended warranties, but everywhere I went it seemed like everyone said they would get you by claiming improper maintenance and not pay a claim.

 

Your best warranty protection is to keep some money in the bank.

For the rest I totally agree with Doc Olds.

Besides that the $1700 repair could have been for a $1000 if you do not take stuff to the dealer but find a qualified mechanic that allows you to buy your own parts and charges half of what the dealers charge
