Default Extended Warranty

Hello,

I am looking to get some insight into what the opinions and feedback are, from the members here as to a Extended Warranty..

As i previously stated in another post, i bought and i am gonna be picking up a 2003 H2 Hummer (56554 miles), and i am concerned about buying a extended warranty, do i need one, or just take a pass on it..

In my other thread, ( https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...-new-h2-34921/) ,,,i had some great views on the subject, but i figured, i would post this question in a more general area...

ANY help, would be greatly appreciated...

Sometimes it's very hard to get something back from those guys with their extended warranties! Learn very carefully what kind of warranty it is and what is the coverage?

It REALLY Depends on how well your H2 has been taken care of baring any Un-Seen circumstances! DO YOUR HOMEWORK, Google ALL the BAD Reviews & see for yourself. And just because they may have an A+ Rating with the BBB means very little if you know what i mean! If you know of anybody that works at a Dealership they will Most likely tell you these Extended Warranties are Nothing but a Money Making Rip-Off! I've always heard that IF you do go with one go with the one the dealership offers after you buy it new, NEVER take those that you get in the Mail, NEVER! Just look them all up on your computer & you can see hundreds of Horror Stories! Then, you'll get an idea of HOW they work! MOST of the time IF something breaks their Rep. is going to find something else on your truck that CAUSED it to break & Most of the time that part IS NOT covered! jmo! Like i've always been told, if you need to just put back so much each month just IN CASE you'll need to fix something later on down the line! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

We bought our 06 H3 from the Cadillac dealership near Phoenix about 3 months ago.
We also got the extended warrenty that they sell for all the products they sell.
It cost $2,700 and covers pretty much all the truck but the tires.
Don't know if it is a waste of money, or not.
Sorta gives me peace of mind.
Hope I don't need it. It's for 2 years and by then I should know if it is a good deal or not.
Hopefully, I don't get to use it...

It's a gamble if something major is going to happen to your vehicle but I just don't believe in extended warranty's. You will have to fight for every claim.

I put a little aside each month just to cover vehicle maintanace and DON'T touch it for anything else.

Also, a Dealer is the LAST place that I would take my truck for service. Find a good independent mechanic and you will get things done for a fair price.
I usually work on my own truck but sometimes you need a pro.

Cool

Extended warranties are tough to execute sometimes. Lots of ifs, ands, buts in the clauses. A full bumper to bumper warranty including labor executable at the service center of your choice is optimal but that usually costs a lot. As much as $1500-$1800/yr, especially on older models and Hummers are no longer produced so that will most likely make the price higher.
I tend to pass on them unless it's a new vehicle and I can get it for 50% or less of cost.

I have NEVER bought an extended warranty on anything... appliances, electronics, vehicles, tools, machines, you name it. Never had an issue that one of those BS extended warranties would have been worth it yet.

In my case, yet is over 30 years! I'll spend that money on maintenance and those piddly little repairs that pop up to be addressed, the rest goes in the beer bank.

The warranty thing might be great for those that consider pliers and a crescent wrench a full set of tools, can't change a light bulb, and have no clue on what maintenance is, when it is due, or how it is done.
