Default And experience on Nav Disc Update?

Hi all. My 08 H3 is still using the nav disc when it's purchased. Now it seems more and more out-of-date. It doesn't have my home address in it's database, which was built in 2006. Has anyone used the GM nav disc update? Is there any huge update? And, if I have a nav disc, should I call GM to get an auth code or license code to install it?

And comment appreciated.

When I purchased my 07 H3 new, it came with the current disc for that year.
I got the one free update disc the following year and it still didn't show some streets in my area.
I have now purchased the 2009 version and it is OK.
At $200.00 a pop I am staying with what I've got.
Try looking at the jewel box the disc came in, it should have a version or date.
You can call GM's number on the jewel box and they may offer some help.
Some GPS nav discs can be about two years of lag time in what they show.

My experience taught me to never buy another vehicle with a built in NAV system and that GM is really good at sticking it in their customers rear ends and breaking it off up there.

There aren't any auth codes for the disks themselves only the headunits and that only happens once they have paired with the BCM? locking them to that vehicle. It's literally just pop the old disk out stick the new one in.

Luckily my house is on my 07 map....but a 1/4 mile up the street and we are drving in never never land....My local GM dealership said $350 for a new disk and it's prepay only. I'll wait until I can't recognize any streets in my city before I go get a new one. Luckily, I don't travel anywhere I don't know.....but I have my Droid to help me out when I'm in a pinch! lol
