Default Exhaust Question

I see a lot of conflicting info on Cat Back Exhausts Systems.

It seems that most of them fit the 3.5L
Some sites say that a cat back system that will fit the 3.5L will not Fit the 3.7L, but others say it will.

I'm typically a Borla Guy, They truely have the best sound IMO.
But Money being the way it is, I'm not opposed to a GIBSON or MAGNA.

I just want to make sure that if an EXHAUST SYSTEMS claims to Fit the 3.5L that it will also FIT the 3.7L

Anyone here actually put a system on a 3.7L? If so which one and what is the part #?

The Magnaflow off of my 06 3.5 fit perfectly on my 08 3.7. Magnaflow needs to do some work on their website. I would think all manufacturers would be the same since they fit on the same brackets etc..

Yeah it seems all the websites need work.

How is the sound on the Magnaflow?

I've got the magnaflow. Very happy with the product! Never gonna be as loud as a v8, but it sounds throughty, and there is a subtle difference in the drive. If you go catback, reprogram the CPU and pick up an Air Dock intake or similar. The three as a combo can make a noticeable change.

I like it. Not to loud, not to soft, and good sound. I also have an AirDoc CAI and a PCMforless tune. It is the same exhaust that I had on my 06 3.5. It does not seem as loud on the 3.7 as it did the 3.5. I don't know why that is. Maybe it's just my imagination or my hearing is going away.

There is no difference in the exhaust configuration and hanger locations between the 3.5L 2006 and 3.7L 2007.

In 2008, the hanger locations were changed. So, any of the 06/07 CAT backs will actually bolt onto a 08/09, but you would need to modify the rear hanger. Might be a problem for some DIYs. If you have a cutoff wheel and a welder, it is a piece of cake.

Doh... I forgot to mention I have the MagnaFlow system and I am a happy camper. Love it. Had a Borla on my last truck, the quality is very comparable. Borla uses a slightly higher chromium content in its SS, but other than that, I'd say go with MagnaFlow!

My 06 fit perfectly on my 08 with no modifications. Maybe mine is an early 08 and they didn't change the hangers till later in the year.

Well, it's possible.

I helped a guy with an 08, I got no idea what vintage in the run it came from, but we had to modify the rear hanger, really wasn't a big deal, but it was not gonna be a out of the box and on the truck application without that minor change.

In fact I know there is another thread on here where somebody had a local exhaust shop change the rear hanger on his 08 so a CAT back for the 06/07 would work... it wasn't a MagnFlow.... I thing it was a Corsa or a Volant??? Not important enough for me to go searching for.

What is the best way to reprogram the CPU I have a spintech exhaust with a volant intake.
