Default Engine oil cooler

So I have seen this asked before but have not found an answer. Many of us know of and have done the tranny cooler mod to eliminate the possibility of tranny fluid and coolant mixing. OK, the oil cooler on the opposite side of the radiator is set up the exact same way. So has anyone bypassed it?

Well tomorrow, i will be doing a total revamp of the cooling system, i am going to install a dual shrouded electric fan setup, separate oil, trans and steering coolers..

I am totally bypassing the radiator, i don't want any fluids ( oil and trans ) to possibly mix with water, and as to the steering cooler, the one on my rig now looks aged, so its gonna be replaced...

It is a 2005, and nothing like replacing aged components with updated units..

Plus most important of all, i will have peace of mind...

Oh yeah, i forgot to mention, i am replacing all the hoses involved with the cooling system, with silicone hoses..

When i am done, i will post pictures..

Do you already know what oil cooler you will use and where you will mount it?

Well since, i am going to start it tomorrow, its safe to assume i have it, yes i am going with the Derale 15831 cooler, its definitely beats the little one, integrated into the radiator, i will be fabricating custom supports to mount it, pictures will show the location..

ive wondered the same thing and i think im just going to use a block off plate and eliminate the oil cooler all together, i don't off road or tow with mine so im thinking many many vehicles don't have oil coolers that are just daily drivers,

I wouldn't eliminate the oil cooler, but i would bypass it, from the radiator, i am in the process of installing a aftermarket oil cooler, i am just going to use the lines off the engine, on them i will install compression fitting with barbs, that feed the aftermarket cooler...

In my opinion, the cooler is very useful, in that it brings down the engines overall temperature. .
