Default Engine Light On - can't Scan Codes - Fuse Problem?

My engine light came on this week so I stopped by Auto Zone to have them read the scan codes for me. Their computer wouldn't read any codes - it said it "connect to vehicle before trying to scan" even though it was connected. The technician told me it was a fuse blown and for me to fix that fuse and come back and they would scan it. I can't figure out which fuse controls the computer that would produce the problem codes. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Default lite on....

sometimes the power point for the data link connector looses power without getting too technical buy a cheap test light turn the key on and check all the fuses by touching the light to one side and the other side of the fuse one side has power all the time and the other side is the acc or the component its powering if one side lights and the other doesnt pull the fuse and look at it check the engine compartment fuses too...most problems are overlooked due to a blown fuse...check them all and youll be glad you did, he may also have a scanner issue find a real technican with a real diagnostic tool to solve the problem, at my shop I charge nothing to read codes it costs to repair them..
