Are you getting a check engine light? If so, you need to find a code reader to let you know what is causing your misfire. Are you getting any engine noise? Have you checked some simple things like vacuum hose damage or maybe it came off? Is your throttle body secured and sealed properly?

the light is on and all it is telling me is that the truck is missing and gives me details of which cyl. is missing and how many times. everything else is I can think of has been checked. even dumped some injector cleaner in it to see if that will help

maybe try switching two coil packs and see if the code changes cylinders?

X2

Switching the location of the coil pack to see if the misfire follows the pack that is now on the missing cylinder will rule out a bad coil pack. If the miss stays at the same cylinder, you know it is not the pack.

What cylinder is it?

BTW.... did you recently change plugs? If so, after the coil pack swap to determine if you have a bad coil, go buy one new plug for the bad cylinder. If you dropped one, or cracked one, or just bought a bad plug by dumb luck, that is a cheap easy problem to check as well. A plug with a fractured insulator can actually work fine for a while, then the heat expands the crack and you begin to arc spark away from the plug = misfire. My record is almost 6K miles before a plug coughed it up with a visible crack.

Fuel injection cleaner.

i was thinking along the same lines as doc. that first coil pack can be a ***** to get back on the plug the way the wire run.

I agree with the coil change out. When I did my spark plug change I noticed the rubber around the coil was cracked. Nothing bad has happened yet. Good Luck!!!!
