Emblem Removal And Painting
so.. i was at a mud fest sunday, and pressurewashed my truck when i got home....
the emblems, well, the silver and chrome is chipping off. i really dont care, because i needed an excuse to paint them gloss black! haha
this is what im wondering:
1. how to get them off clean
2. what high gloss paint you recommend (or should o go with the bedliner look?)
3. how to re apply the emblem.... which glue, adhesive, etc.

This post covers your question Numbers 1. and 3. RE: Debadgeing the H3 . Once you scuff up the badges, I would think any good quality paint that you have had success with in the past would be a good choice. You should consider a clear coat or two over the badges once you paint to help with chip/scuff resistance??

[sm=joke.gif] There's more than one way to skin a cat, and that other thread covers most of 'em.
Use engine enamel, it's less likely to flake off and no need to clear coat.

Engine paint needs heat to cure completely. If ya go that route, stick em in the oven at 225-250 for 5 minutes on a cookie sheet on some foil (they are cheap white metal and won't melt at that temp range). Open the windows after 
. I wonder if you could grill them things, ?????????????? nah. Oven is ok. Let them cool before you try to stick em back on.
3M makes an emblem tape, but I like the glue per DVader better.

This is what I did. I bought clear contact paper from Walmart covered the emblems and cut along the H just on the emblem itself not the actual paint on the door. sanded and primered then painted it black using Rustoleum han=mmer head finish. The paint is holding up really well, no chips in it even after power washing it.
