Exclamation electrical short on tow package harness

I found this on my 08 with tow package. The harness wore through the insulation of the wiring and the paint of the panel. I burnt 3 fuses (rt rear park light) before I could track down the short. Its easy enough to check yours from the top without having to remove the bumper. Anybody else have this problem ? The last picture just showing where I installed my rear cam. I was back there taking pics anyways

Yeah....they ALL do it Fortunately I read a thread about this problem not long after getting my H3, so in anticipation of it happening, I put a piece of wire loom around that spot, and fastened it with nylon tie wraps.

Ditto..That's the first thing I did on my 08 and 10. Reading this forum from it's inception before I purchased my 06 has saved me a lot of headaches.

Good find and good idea to check this for the rest of us

while you guys are chasing down shorts, I'm just waiting for my OEM hitch and bumper to arrive. Maybe then I'll have to worry about "shorts"

Default "the fix", no tools,no parts!

hey, first thanks for previous info to save the rest of us!

yes it would happen to most/all

i checked mine,,cable tight against the metal edge where it would cut thru. when i reached up from the front side of frame i could feel the cable and pull down on it opening the space. i thot id slid in a piece of rubber/plastic.

then with my other hand i could reach the connecter from the rear side.

"the fix": i pulled down and assuming the conn was clipped to the frame i pushed forward. it went "clik" and the cable is now loose! no contact. its stiff enuf not to bounce but if u worry a lot, tie it down,,not up!

another h3 engineering detail solved by the forum guys!!
