Default DuraTrac size matter?

Time for new tires and I decided on some Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs. It looks like most people really like these, but one thing I have noticed is that most people are running at least 285's. I have two questions:

1) Is there a difference (or problem) with running DuraTracs in the 265/75/16 size?
2) Will these DuraTracs run well at 70+ mph's? (I do a lot of highway driving)

Thanks.

I have Duratracs and really like them. I run 315/70/17 and have take them up to 80MPH. They handle great, are relatively quiet and wear very well. With your tire size question I assume these are not going on an H2, correct? Your tire size should be fine in general... Anyway, I purchased mine at Discount Tire, with the hazard warranty and free tire balancing and rotation.

I personally think that a 265 looks out of proportion on an H3 after seeing and driving them with 315s. Heck even the 285s look a bit small now.

It is a personal choice so check and see if you like the 265 Duratracs on this rig.

Yup I agree with Tainter, I ended up going with the 305's and really like them.
My driving is mainly highway, no problems very smooth!

265/75/16's will look too small. Don't bother. The stock tires on an H3 should have never been so small.

I had 285/75/16 Duratrac's on my truck for 2 years. It's a great tire, quiet on the highway, good offroad.

But after hanging with so many guys running 35" tires on there H3's, I switched to 315/75/16's Duratrac's and they look so much better.

Thanks everyone for the replies. You are correct Man1, they will be on an H3. Tainter, thank you for the link.

I am having DiscountTire put them on, but the website shows that 285 is the largest available. So, I guess the only options I will have are 265s or 285s, or pick a comparable tire.

Below are the listings for Discount tire in the other sizes that will fit your H3. The 285s and 305s will get similar MPGs. 315s will cost more MPGs (1.5-3) depending on you other mods.
