While my H3 hasn't had that idle fluctuation issue, my '06 Cobalt SS did. The dealer replaced the barometric pressure sensor under warranty, which did nothing . Ultimately, a PCM reflash got rid of the issue entirely.

My '06 is doing the exact same thing as Stavros, rpm drop, light dim. The rpm drop doesn't worry so much as the light dimming.

Default low alternator output

i think you can expect the dim lights as voltage drops when the alt output falls at low rpm, thats normal, the low rpm is not!!!

One possiblity may be with the IAC, if your vehicle only does it when you are at an idle, then that eliminates several players in the game. A vacuum leak will cause a high idle, not stall the engine. If it's a fluctuation in RPMs at idle and no other time then I would be inclined to have your IAC scoped by a dealer to make sure it's working properly. Sensors sure can cause a lot of havoc!

Ultimately, if your first answer wasn't the right answer to this problem.. Could there possibly be another issue we might be overlooking?

Thanks for your time, Doc.

I have the exact same thing happening with mine. Weird thing is, is this. When i first got it, exact same symptoms as you. As time went on, my serpintine belt got worn somehow or as the dealer says, got contaminated and it would squeal in the morning cold weather. After this started to happen, my 06 H3 would not have the stall feel or the lights diming etc on a stop. Months later as the belt started to drive me crazy, I took it into the dealer and had it replaced. No more squeal in the belt but the stall and light dimming is back weird hey. I am going into the dealer on Jan 5th for a road test with the forman for an issues I have with the 4 wheel not wanting to go out of lock. I will see if I can get an answer on our issue as well.

;-)

H3s and most all late model vehicles do not have fuel filters.

I went for a road test today with the shop foreman to check out my 4 wheel lock sticking in the lock position. That needs to be fixed, but that another story.

I asked about my h3 feeling like it wants to stall and light dimming on stop. All he really said it that it is NOT normal and the first though he has is a alternator that is not working properly. Definetley something in the ignition/charging system so he says. I am not going to explore it any more as of now, as it is not stalling out. I have a big enough bill coming to me next week, fixing the transfer case.

Good luck all. Please post if anyone finds the cause.

Thanks
