Driver's Side Tire Rub...
Today, upon left turning into a parking lot, my left front wheel rubbed my black fender flare that is attached to the fender. This probably the second time this has happened. Now Iinstalled a the OEM mudflaps behind the flares before this happened. Could the thickness of the mudflap have added that much to the close proximity between the tire and the flare?
Thosewho have read my previous posts probably know that Ialready have a 4" Rancho Lift, and 35x12.5x18 ProCompTires on it.
My problem isthat I am a Cop withABSOLUTELY NOautomotive knowledge. So I guess my question(s) is/are:
Can the airshocks (I'm assuming that's the type I have) be raised slightly? Will this correct the problem?
I think the first time this rubbing happened was while 4-Wheeling on Medano Pass (Southern Colorado) about 3 weeks ago, while I was backing up over some rocks. It was a ROUGH early spring trip as the snow had melted and not many people had been up, over, and down the Pass prior to our excursion. For what it is worth the H3 did an outstanding job, handling the rather large rocks, Sand from the Great Sand Dunes, and a 3' deep mud/water hole. I have some cool pix, but still have not mastered putting them on this Forum.
One last thing, there's only an occasionally a loud creaking noise coming from the Right front wheel when turningonto a curb or a small bump. Can that be related to the 4-Wheeling and deepwater fording from three weeks ago?
Again sorry about all of the questions, but I trust all of you and your knowledge, so ANY would be appreciated.

A rub on a Hummer seems impossible! Looks like so much clearance even with larger 20" rims. I could possibly see that if there was a big offset with aftermarket rims. When making a turn while going up a slight incline along with a large offset pushing the tire outside the fender well can result in some problems...but guys are taking these Hummers off road and really testing the geometry of the H3 suspension.

I'll respectfully disagree with the prior post; I have 35's on my H3 and routinely rub the torsion bars when I lock the steering. I am sure that the 4" lift that you have will most likely remedy this, but when in a turn, on rocks/boulders as you had indicated, it is possible that you will rub the flaps. Just my $0.02

I happened to see a Hardcore 4x4 friend of mine who suggested that I just neatly line out a bit of the Flare, and use a heated utility knife to trim out the portion that seems to come into contact with the tire.
Any thoughts?

Wow, I wouldn't have thought 35's would have rubbed with a 4 inch lift kit and those after market rims ! !

can't see how they could be rubbing...I'm running 35's on a slight t-bar crank and have no rub at all. You must have gotten a strange offset wheel. And 07hummer...you rubbed the control arm, not the t-bar.
Are you sure you rubbed the fender flare and not the control arm? Can you see the rub in the plastic flare? If you can take a pic of where it rubbed and have your wheels at full lock in the pic I can help you remidy it.
