Driver's mirror vibrates
I went on a three hour road trip yesterday and noticed that my driver's side mirror vibrates a lot. It starts at 45-50 mph. But I was doing 70-75mph on the highway and it was vibrating kinda like when the bass is hitting deep... But only worse... And constant.
The mirror housing doesn't seem to vibrate.. just the mirror part. My passenger side mirror doesn't have this issue. Do I need to take it apart and tighten something up on the inside? I changed the position of the mirror with the automated switches but the problem still persists. Any advice is appreciated. |
Does the mirror vibrate on city roads, over bumps?
Did you feel the mirror (parked) push up, down, side to side, to see if it moves inside the housing? Does the mirror housing move up and down, or is it tight? Compare to the passenger side. If all feels tight, get your tires balanced. GL |

Just had the same thing happen today. Did some looking around, sounds like the plastic in the pivot point of the mirror goes bad. You can tell if you can wobble the mirror housing by hand. No way to tighten it from what i've read. I folded mine in, placed a thin rubber washer on the lip (trim the end so it doesn't stick out) then fold the mirror back out. Solid again. Beats $200 for a new one. If your's is still under warranty, which mine is not, it should be covered.

Hmm. I'll take a look at that. Mine only has a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty from the dealership that I bought it from.

I think we can eliminate the unbalanced tire as the potential cause. The mirror vibrates while parked... while the bass is bumping.. but the passenger side mirror does not. Both door speakers are working properly and are about two months old. I can physical move the speaker housing a little bit on both sides of the vehicle. There seems to be about the same amount of play in both sides.
