i recently broke my cv axle on the front passenger side. when i have the truck in 4-high and put it in gear it does nothing, wont go forward or in reverse. the cv axle on the passenger side just spins and makes a grinding noise. if i put the truck in 4-low the truck will go in gear forward or reverse. has anyone had this problem?

 

i guess u gotta replace the stripped busted axel then see how it goes.
u didnt say about 4hi lock. even if it goes there u still gotta fix the busted axel.
u will prob find it goes in 4hi lock,4lo lock because the tcase locks the rear driveshaft.

the tcase in 4hi/open is open and with no traction on the busted axel,u aint goin nowhere.
did i mention u gotta fix the busted part?

 

Depending on how mechanically inclined you are you can remove and replace the half shaft in about 2 hours your first time. Heck we can do it in 45minutes on the trail now!



You can NOT drive with a busted CV. You WILL damage other parts of your front drive train and even your transfer case!!!

 

if you put into 4wd lock it still doestnt do anything. i figured that since it was full time 4wd the back tires should pull even with the busted cv axle on the front. im in the process of fixing the busted part was hopeing i had no further damage to trans or diff.
