Default Door speaker dimensions

Right now I'm concentrating on the amp and sub (head unit already in) but after that I will get around to replacing the door speakers. From what I've read, I believe we can go 6.5 component up front, 6.5 2-way in the back (this is an '07 H3 btw). I think I also read somewhere that mounting depth was a concern. Anyone have any experience here? Is this something I need to be wary of?

I had ARC Audio components in my last car, the Chip Foose Designs versions, and they were fantastic, but alas are not made anymore, and I don't know what I'm going to get yet. Obviously, it should be something that fits!

I just replaced mine as well. Had a blown front. I talked to crutchfield as they know the specs of pretty much every vehicle out there and they said anything with a depth under 3" should fit. I bought rainbow components up front and two way coaxials for the rear doors and the depth on those are 2 11/16" and they fit fine. Best damn speakers I have ever owned. The midbass feels like someone is hitting you in the chest with a bat and the highs from the tweeters are so clear. But the price tag is pretty high. I've learned with car audio you get what you pay for. If you need any info feel free to hit me up.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at the Hertz Energy line. Mounting depth comes in at just under 3" so I guess that should be good!

Im pretty sure you've got about 4 inches of depth before running out of room. If you can stay around three you will be fine as mentioned above. To be honest 3 to 3.5 inches is about where most speakers are going to be anyway if not less.

and to add a comment about the Foose Arc Audio speakers: love 'em. I had the 6x9's in my previous car. they were great. we used to sell a ton of them where i work.

Just asking: where were you going to mount your amp for the sub?

See my other thread...probably going to put it under the driver's seat. Seems like the best of the lot of less-than-ideal choices.
