Unless one of your doors has been bent out of shape, you have something in the door jam preventing it from closing all the way, or the back door isn't shut completely you might have a short. Your electrical SHOULD shut down after 20 min to prevent the battery discharge, so you shouldn't have to disconnect the battery everytime. Check it first though to make sure it is working.

I would get with the dealership and have them look at it.

Mine did the same thing last week. It was icey outside and one of the door switches must have got frozen, it went away after an hour.

definately a door switch problem....open all doors and work the door switches real good...make sure theay are not sticking. I would tape down all 4 door switches and see if the DIC message and dome light go away...if yes then you have a door not making contact (unlikely) or a bad door switch (unfortunetly kinda common on gm's). Remember...DO NOT just cut the wires off a door switch and splice them together to bypass the bad switch (like we used to do) the system on the H3 is controlled by the BCM and cutting out a switch isn't a good idea.

I had this happen to me last summer, no Ice, no rain. I jiggled all the door switches thinking one was stuck to no avail. So,I had On Star run a diag, which did nothing, everything checked out "OK". I had an appointment with the dealership to check it out, but I fixed it before having to take it in. Here's what I did:

Sit in the H3 and arm your alarm(press the lock button on the remote/engine off). Open the door and this will set off the alarm. Press your remote to shut off the alarm. The Door open indicator, and dome lite now work as they should - for me at least.

Must have been some kind of problem with the alarm mechinism/door sensors, and this reset it. I suppose just hitting the panic button on the remote may work as well, but it has never happened again so can't say it would work or not.

hope it works for you -

I think that it's a BCM glitch, this happed to me twice, I disconnected the battery both times over night and it was all good the next day.
