Doc, you will be proud of me
I'm not a On-Star lover or Jeff Gordon fan, but $16.95 a month is worth it tome not having to worry about my wife being trapped in a vehicle for 8 days.

This was a Honda Element, but if it would have been a GM with On-Star, authorities would have been alerted as soon as the air bag deployed or the sensors detected a roll over. I often find myself in remote locations like the Ozarks, where only On-Star's phone works. I may never need it, but it's nice knowing you have it. Kinda like having your concealed carry permit. You hope you never need to use it, but if you do it may save your life.

I just got my renewal form in and it's $18.95 monthly or $199 annually ($16.58 per month) or $379 for 2 yrs ($15.79 per month)
One thing, if you're upside down in a ditch or whatever, OnStar doesn't work... Also, if her airbags deployed, OnStar may have had time to send a signal but may not have had time to send GPS positioning data depending on how the vehicle ultimately landed. Don't know if would have helped that lady that was lost for 8 days.
I'm going to renew mine mainly because my wife drives it a lot and she has some medical conditions, it's like an extra insurance policy to me.

If you call to cancel, they will offer it to you for cheaper. I was paying $12.95 a month when I cancelled. The first time I called, they offered me the $12.95 a month deal for 12 months. They just raised their prices by $2.00 a month, so I'm not sure if they'd give you the same deal anymore.
Reminds me of Trash Hauling Companies and Cable Carriers. Call and tell them you are switching, and suddenly they can save you$$$$. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T THEY GIVE YOU THE CHEAP RATE TO BEGIN WITH???? Quite the racket, Onstar [:'(]

My neighbor had to call a locksmith because she locked her keys in her vehicle at the mall today. Hubby was out of town, so he couldn't bring the spare set. It sort of made me think about this thread. One visit from the locksmith is probably worth 6-8 months of On-Star. [sm=lol.gif]

Doc! I got my second Notice today that I have not activated my Onstar! Its not going to happen!
